The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.
The Council approved several second readings of amended ordinances, including temporary vacancy for water service and adding a temporary water service and rate charge; changing the terraces, decks and patios, and addressing feral cats under animal protection and control. Before the Council approved the second reading to address feral cats, Council member Matt Wetrich asked to increase the efforts to adopt cats and Council member Darren Jackson, who also serves on the cat committee, stressed the need to collect data when trap-neuter-release (TNR) program begins.
The Council also approved to accept its annual allocation from Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation in the amount of $33,000, set a public hearing for July 27th to sell property at 703 North Wilson Avenue for $2,500, approved up to $40,000 for Franks Design Group to conduct a study for space needs for the library, with the library budget to make up the other $3,000 of the agreement. They also approved a change order of a $9,784 decrease to Caliber Concrete for the shared use path project at Daubendiek Park, along with final acceptance of completion for the project.
Additionally, the Council approved a resolution for the end of the 2021 fiscal year fund transfers as presented, a resolution of support for developer Nate Adams to apply for workforce tax credits to convert the former middle school into apartment project, as well as approving the annual contract for City Administrator Mike Palmer, with a salary increase from $104,800 to $109,000.
