The West Central Valley Softball ended last week against Nodaway Valley. Here’s a recap of the 2021 season.
For starters, even though the Wildcats left the postseason early it still was a big year. WCV had a historic season raking up 11 wins on the year. The first time the team has had double digit wins since 2015. A huge improvement from a year ago. They finished that shortened season with only one win.
In terms of individual performances, Freshman Ella Sand had a breakout season. She led the team with hits at 48 and she was a nightmare for opposing defenses when it came to baserunning. She managed to steal 28 bases. Another breakout performance was Sophomore Pitcher Marissa Hagen. She had a rough freshman season having a record of 1-10 and an ERA 6.15. She finished 2021 with a 11-12 record and an ERA of 4.71.
