For one Perry school 2021 signifies a century of education, and the celebration will be kicked off this month. 

St. Patrick’s Catholic School is preparing for a centennial celebration  which will take place on July 23rd and 24th. Principal Kandice Roethler says the upcoming celebration in July will kick off a school year-long recognition, even if it’s a little later than they wanted to celebrate. 

“This celebration we are sort of kicking off the upcoming school year with these two events and then really leading into the (20)21-(20)22 school year with that idea of our next 100 years. Without the pandemic ideally we would’ve wanted to celebrate during the 20-21 school year and then really end it with the like ‘Wow this is what we have done,’ and really celebrate what’s made us who we are up to now.”

Roethler says she hopes people come out and celebrate with them during the community picnic on July 24th.

“You are going to meet a welcoming, friendly face in any corner that you turn. Don’t be afraid, because you weren’t a part of St. Pat’s, that Saturday event is truly meant to be a community thing just as if the radio station was celebrating 100 years, it’s meant to be, we are sharing our story and we want you to hear what you could potentially experience.”

The events will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, July 23rd for the Centennial Supper Celebration with a cost of $20 for an individual and $35 for a couple and the Centennial Mass and Community Picnic at 4 p.m. July 24th which includes a free-will donation meal. Both events will take place at the St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Perry.
