2021 Greene Co Fair Queen Ashlyn Frederick

The 2021 Greene County Fair recently wrapped up for the year.

The fair started with the fair queen coronation ceremony this past Wednesday, where Ashlyn Frederick won. She talked about her initial reaction to winning the crown.

“I was super excited. This is such a great opportunity for me and it’s something I’ve always wanted to be. I’ve been in 4-H since 4th grade, so this is really awesome for me. I’m super excited to be more involved in the fair and even more excited to get to go to the state fair to talk with other fair queens.”

Other highlights from the fair included 31 4-H static exhibits qualifying for the Iowa State Fair and Jefferson resident Jacque Andrew was recognized as this year’s 4-H Hall of Fame recipient. Unfortunately, inclement weather caused a few changes to the grandstand entertainment. The Truck and Tractor Pull Saturday night had to be cancelled, while the Grand River Rodeo on Sunday was postponed to July 25th at 7pm.

However, Greene County Fair Board President Conner Juergensen thanked everyone involved with this year’s fair.

“Thank you sponsors, thank you volunteers. The fair would not happen if there wasn’t a tremendous amount of very, very generous sponsors every year. Along with the volunteers, the donors, and the community is also thanked. You guys come out, you pay to get into the events (and) that’s what keeps us going for another year.”

The Greene County Fair ended Monday with the Junior Fair Premium Auction. Check out the photos from the fair on the Raccoon Valley Radio Facebook page and the Greene County Fair coverage webpage for all livestock and non-livestock results.
