A motorcycle versus van head-on collision in Greene County resulted in one death Monday night.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio, the sheriff’s office, along with the Iowa State Patrol, Greene County Ambulance and Jefferson Fire Department responded to the crash at 9:36pm on 220th Street and Orchard Avenue. Williams says a Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by 21-year-old Logan Ancell of Ottumwa, was heading east on 220th Street, when for some unknown reason crossed the centerline and hit head-on a westbound 2018 Chrysler Pacifica van driven by 62-year-old Rochelle Guess of Jefferson.

Williams says Ancell was pronounced dead at the scene and Guess suffered minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to Greene County Medical Center. Williams notes Ancell was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and both vehicles were considered to be total losses. 

The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
