The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

During open forum, County Engineer Wade Weiss presented the $1.9 million assessment on the former Alliant Energy building that was purchased for $582,000. The information will be used to determine insurance coverage plans.

The Board approved a subscription license and services agreement with Tyler Technologies for upgrades to the county’s software program for a flat fee of $52,840 and an annual fee of $24,682 as presented. The Board also approved three change orders for the bridge replacement project on the Raccoon River Valley Trail of $9,435. They also approved hiring Bethany Hauptman as a part-time paramedic for $20 per hour and Deana Shriver as a part-time ambulance driver for $10 per hour when driving and $4 per hour to be on-call.

The Board then tabled its decision on an architectural contract with ISG for a new jail. The reason was to review the entire contract that would cover the initial design and cost estimate, along with using the company to help promote the eventual bond referendum. Finally, the Board held a public hearing for an amendment to the master matrix for an existing hog confinement in Section 5 of Franklin Township. The facility is owned by Kent Scheib, who changed the matrix scoring to 460 points by eliminating the points for trees and landscaping and chose the implementation of manure the day it arrived.

Following the public hearing, the Board voted 4-1 to recommend approval to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, with Supervisor Pete Bardole voting no. He said he would like to see Scheib take points to replant the trees that had died on the property.
