A Jefferson man was recently sentenced to probation for drugs.

According to court documents, 65-year-old William Richardson pled guilty to lesser charges of an aggravated misdemeanor for his second offense for possession of methamphetamine and a serious misdemeanor for possession of marijuana. He had his prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for one year with the Boone and Greene County Probation Services. 

The charges stem from an investigation by the Jefferson Police Department on June 25, 2019. Officers responded to a verbal argument at a residence in the 300 block of North Chestnut Street. Law enforcement entered the home and executed a search warrant, which drugs were recovered from a room marked private that belonged to Richardson, which had tested positive for marijuana and methamphetamine.

Richardson was also ordered to pay over $1,000 for court costs and court-appointed attorney fees.
