The Panorama Elementary PTO and school librarian Joan Frederickson are hosting a fiesta-themed book fair during the week of parent-teacher conferences next month, and district parents and residents are encouraged to participate.
All monies raised during the fair will help purchase new books for the elementary library and individual classroom libraries. All elementary classrooms will also be participating in a coin war that will coincide with the book fair to raise additional funds. Last year’s coin war and book fair raised over $1,000 according to Frederickson.
She says this year’s fair, which is slated for February 12th and 13th, will also feature Scholastic’s “All for Books” program.
“Whatever funds we raise and however we want to go about raising them, (Scholastic) takes that money and for every dollar raised they will buy books for kids in need. Some of the organizations that they support are Kids in Distressed Situations, the Kids in Need Foundation and Toys for Tots.”
Also in conjunction with the fair, students and staff are encouraged to dress up in their favorite fiesta attire during the school day on February 11th.
Any Panorama parents or community residents with questions about the book fair can call the elementary school at 641-755-2021.
