Unemployment rates ended 2013 with an increase locally.
According to Iowa Workforce Development the percentage of residents in Dallas, Greene and Guthrie Counties without a job went up in December.
Dallas County’s unemployment rate increased by 0.4 percent in December to 3.5 percent but that’s still 0.4 percent lower than the December 2012 rate.
Greene County saw their unemployment rate go up by half a percentage last month to 4.1, though that’s 1.2 percent lower than the same time the year before.
Guthrie County’s rate increased the most by 0.9 percent to 4.2 percent in December but they are still in better shape than the end of 2012 when they recorded a 5.7 percent unemployment rate.
Iowa’s overall unemployment rate dropped slightly in December to 4.2 percent while the U.S. unemployment rate is 6.7 percent.
