
Monday, June 6th
10:00am: An officer was called to the 400 Block of South Vine Street for an accident. A 2020 Peterbilt Garbage Truck, owned by the City of Jefferson and operated by Bill McDowell, struck a parked vehicle. The driver was attempting to pull to the curb to collect trash with the automatic arm and struck the parked vehicle. The 2015 Toyota 4Runner was owned by Dana Harrison of Jefferson. The garbage truck was not damaged. Harrison’s vehicle had a reported $5000.00 in damages. A reminder to resident’s that parking, or placing other items near your garbage on the curb, makes it difficult for city workers to collect your garbage. Make sure they have clear access to the curb where you place your receptacle.
4:29pm: Denison PD requested an officer to attempt to locate the owner of a vehicle located in Denison. The registered owner had a Jefferson address. The officer learned the subject has not lived in Jefferson for some time now and passed the information back to the Dennison officer.
5:28pm: The Jefferson Vet Clinic reported a male transient lying in the field near 1908 North Wilson Ave. Officers located the male, who was fine and resting as he passed through town.
6:03pm: The Wild Rose Security Staff requested a Welfare Check on a female at 777 Wild Rose Lane. They advised she had lost the keys to her vehicle, and was sitting in the vehicle without air conditioning for several hours. They were concerned for her as it was extremely hot outside. Officers checked on the female and assisted in searching for her keys inside the vehicle, but did not locate them. Security Staff arranged a room overnight at the Cobblestone Hotel for the female to get out of the heat and make arrangements for someone to come and get her.
7:24pm: An off-duty officer witnessed a young driver in the alley in the 300 Block of North Locust Street on 06/06/2021, at about 1614 hours. The young driver accelerated the vehicle, causing the wheels to spin and throw rocks into neighboring yards. The vehicle then squealed its tires as it entered the roadway at Washington Street. The officer knew the young driver and later learned he has a School Permit. The officer has issued Conrado O. Jaimes-Diaz of Jefferson citations for, “Violation of a Minor’s School Permit and Careless Driving.”
9:22pm: A Traffic Stop at Central and Grimmell resulted in Michael Pope of Scranton being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”
