The Bell Tower Festival is happening this weekend and there are several new aspects for the two-day event.

Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community Events Team Chair Philip Heisterkamp says one of the newest additions on Friday night is Ironside Axe Throwing.

“Ironically it’s a buddy of mine from college who is now the manager there. So he’s going to just come on down with a mobile axe throwing unit. We’ll set that up underneath the bell tower and have axe throwing for free for three hours on Friday night, which will be great. It’s remarkably safe. When I went before there was no bounce back. You see some horror stories of axes bouncing off walls.”

Heisterkamp points out on Saturday there will be a dunk tank, where people can pay $1 for three throws to dunk someone and a kids “Touch a Truck” in front of the Welcome Center from 12:30-2pm.

“The Touch a Truck I’m very excited about because the local law enforcement and fire department, they’re bringing down some of their vehicles and their big rigs. Really, it’s photo opportunity for parents and kids to their kid, go up to one of these really impressive vehicles, get in it, touch it, get on top of it, take a photo, act like a firefighter for a day, and just have a good time.”

Heisterkamp adds, there will also be an art show on the northside of the square on Friday and Saturday and trivia will take place Saturday on the plaza of the southside of the Greene County Courthouse from 3-4pm. Click the link below to pre-register for trivia.
