Greene County has played three softball games and twice in baseball (plus a suspended contest) and both teams are still looking for their first victory.

Coach Tom Kennedy’s softball Rams lost its opener at home in Jefferson on Friday night to South Hamilton (Jewell) 7-3, before being shut out twice by the run-rule on Saturday at the Ogden Tournament. Boone was a winner in five innings, 11-0, then Carroll needed just three innings to win 14-0. The Rams play next on Wednesday in Jefferson on KG98 vs. Heart of Iowa Activities Conference opponent PCM (Monroe) on the City Diamond on E. Lincolnway in Jefferson.

Coach Matt Paulsen’s baseball Rams were suspended by lightning last Tuesday vs. Nodaway Valley and were trailing 11-8 at the time. Roland-Story was a winner in Story City on Wednesday vs. Greene County, 8-0, then on Friday in Jefferson it was South Hamilton (Jewell) winning by the 10-run rule, 11-0. Greene County baseball plays at Class 2A power Van Meter tomorrow night before hosting PCM on Wednesday.
