Iowa law enforcement is currently underway with specialized enforcement campaigns during the Memorial Day holiday.

Iowa State Patrol District 4 Resource Officer Shelby McCreedy says state and local law enforcement are supporting the current nation-wide “Click It or Ticket It” campaign that is focused on seat belt usage. Along with looking for motorists wearing their seat belts, McCreedy says law enforcement will be paying more attention to these other areas.

“Some of those things that we’re going to be looking out for are of course excessive speeding. We still seem to have a little bit of a speeding problem here statewide. As well as distracted driving and then of course a focus on the Move Over law. People are starting to understand a little better, but it’s obviously something that we need to continue to enforce in order to keep everybody safe on our roadways.”

The nation-wide initiative goes through June 6th.
