Even though the pandemic stopped Raccoon River Pet Rescue from having an initial ribbon cutting last year, they were still celebrated last week.
Raccoon River Pet Rescue celebrated one year of operation last Friday with the Perry Chamber of Commerce. The coronavirus pandemic halted the initial ribbon cutting ceremony last year but Shelter Manager Lexi Linton says it feels good to celebrate now.
“We are expanding as much as we can. In this first year I felt like so many things have changed, we have learned so many new things going forward with different types of situations we are being put in and it’s a learning scale all the time. You come in here and every day is different. We are excited just to keep going, keep growing and hopefully adding to our shelter.”
Linton tells Raccoon Valley Radio some of the hopes for services to come to the shelter are the expansion of public services including a spay and neuter clinic along with having their own veterinarian working out of the shelter.
“I’m hoping that stuff is going to be within the next year, pretty much set and expand that way. That way we can help the community even more.”
