It was Day 2 of the Iowa High School Track and Field Meet in Des Moines, and once again, the Mustangs of Dallas Center – Grimes were very busy and were able to put up some good results throughout the 3A meet.

The boys 4×200 meter relay team finished 2nd overall with a 1:30.78, the team members included Caden Grimes, Jacob Hauschen, Gavin Todd, and Zach Brand. The boys distance medley was also able to find a top three finish with a time of 3:31.87, with the team of Daniel Onwuramaka, Josh Hendricks, Keaton Jackson, and Aiden Ramsey. The boys 4×100 meter relay team finished first in the preliminaries to advance to the state run, with a time of 42.81 seconds. That team included Caden Grimes, Tony Tarwo, Josh Hendricks, and Zach Brand. In the boys long jump, Jackson grabbed a 16th place performance with a mark of 19-07.50. DCG’s 4 x 400 team didn’t qualify for the finals, finishing in 20th with a time of 3:34.78.

The Girls distance medley team of Elle Nelsen, Grace Mikota, Skyler Blessman, and Megan Sterbenz got 4th with a time of 4:12.44, a great time. In the girls shot put, Kaleigh Lachacz was able to grab a 10th place performance with a throw of 37-06.25. 4×400 preliminaries were held, and DCG got 6th to advance to the finals with the team to count on of Grace Mikota, Meredith McDermott, Miranda Muhlstein, and Vanessa Bickford. The 4×200 team finished 20th with a time of 1 minute 49 seconds. Vanessa Bickford was able to grab an 11th place performance with a mark of 1:07.81, a very nice spot. In the 4×100 preliminaries, DCG didn’t qualify for the final finishing 15th with a time of 51.29 seconds.
