Paton-Churdan senior Danielle Hoyle threw the discus 122′ 11″ in Lake City on Thursday at South Central Calhoun’s Jim Yunek Invitational. Not only is that a personal best for Hoyle, according to the statistics website Varsity Bound, it’s the farthest throw by a Class 1A girl in Iowa this season. Hoyle won the discus throw and was second in the shot put at 37′ 10-1/2″ and she scored all 18 of the Rockets’ team points.

Bradyn Smith led the P-C boys by throwing the discus 122′ 1″, his personal best. Smith placed fifth in the event.
