The Greene County Development Corporation Board met earlier this week.

U.S. Congressmen Randy Feenstra gave an update to the Board. He also took questions such as available funding for a four-lane Highway 30 through Greene County, as well as other funding opportunities for affordable housing. 

The Greene County Suicide Prevention Coalition gave a presentation about available resources in the county and gave awareness of the localized statistics related to suicides. 

The Board also heard updates from Greene County Medical Center CEO Tracy Warner. She said plans are being finalized for National Nurses Week from May 6th-12th, they are also going to host the return of a weekly community event of Java and Juice with a virtual tour of the hospital and she reviewed an economic impact report from the Iowa Hospital Association.

Other updates included the Greene County Early Learning Center launching its public fundraising campaign, the Greene County Ambulance Department received a $128,000 Grow Greene County grant, Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community announced the next edition of rooftop art with Greater Life Chiropractic and the first-ever Bike Ride Around Greene County to take place May 8th. Additionally, Alliant Energy announced that they are accepting applications for its Branching Out grant program and Wild Rose Casino and Resort reported its best month ever in its history that happened last month.
