With the full swing of the pandemic happening last year many organizations couldn’t open up certain services, but Guthrie County Conservation is excited for reopening things this year.

Guthrie County Conservation Director Brad Halterman says the historical village wasn’t able to fully open last year. Halterman says they were able to open things a little bit later in the year but it was on a limited basis, but this year plans to be different.

“We are very excited that this May 1st at one o’clock on that Saturday our historical village will be back open. All of the buildings will be open, we will have signage at each of the buildings and each of the stations requesting that one family unit or one group at a time go into the buildings.”

Halterman tells Raccoon Valley Radio that with some of the historical village buildings being smaller led to only allowing one family inside at a time. Halterman says there is also another big item that will be ready this year is the Pullman Car.

“Our Pullman Train Car will be open for the first time ever. We have spent this late fall and winter renovating the inside of our Pullman Train Car. We are really excited to have that open for the first time.”

The Guthrie County Historical Village and Museum is located in Panora.
