Two area participants have qualified for the state competition for the National Elks “Hoop Shoot” contest.

Deputy for the Northwest Elks District Jerry Roberts says Logan Woodruff of Jefferson won the 8-9 year-old boys division and Talia Schon of Glidden won the 10-11 girls division.  He states that they will compete at the state competition in at Grandview University in Des Moines on February 22nd.  If they each win again, they will be eligible to participate in the regional contest in Iowa City in April.

The district competition was at Storm Lake High School on Saturday.

Also receiving trophies were second place finisher for the 8-9 year-old girls was Rilee Jordan of Scranton and Kaitlyn McColley of Rippey for the 12-13 year-old girls.

The Jefferson Elks Club will be sponsoring both Woodruff and Schon for the weekend of February 22nd during the state free throw shooting contest in Des Moines.
