Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation held its annual grant awards ceremony Tuesday night.

The non-profit gaming license holder for Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson gave out $1,179,791, with the highlight of the evening being the competitive grant portion. Of the five-percent that GGCGC receives from the casino as adjusted gross revenue, the organization reserves a portion of that to give for large-scale projects that are over $35,000. This year, the largest amount went to the Greene County Ambulance Department with $128,000 to purchase a new ambulance. The other recipients of the competitive grants included $70,000 to resurface the Grand Junction swimming pool gutters, and $30,000 each to the Greene County Historical Society for a new roof on the museum and new playground equipment for the city park in Paton.

Another portion of the adjusted gross revenues also goes to the six contiguous counties, with each receiving $35,350. There is also a county school, the municipalities and other current commitments that GGCGC gave to. Because of the pandemic, the casino was closed for ten weeks, which did have an impact on how much money GGCGC was able to give away this year.
