Shopping in your local community is an initiative important to Main Street Guthrie Center, and there has been increased importance during the pandemic.
Main Street Guthrie Center Director Dana Buster says throughout this past year of the pandemic people shopping in their local communities has helped those businesses keep their doors open.
“It’s been super important in this last year for people to shop local to help keep these places open during the pandemic and now they are looking to recover and have a really good summer if at all possible.”
Buster tells Raccoon Valley Radio that not only has the shop local initiative helped to keep local businesses going, it has also showcased the various items people can get right in their own backyard.
“I think one good thing that the pandemic did do for shop local is point out the number of items that we have here in our local downtown here in Guthrie. You don’t have to drive to Des Moines to a bigger store to get the things that you need.”
Buster says businesses will continue to look for people shopping local as time goes on.
