The Perry School Board recently approved the budget for the upcoming year and there is some good news for taxpayers.

Perry Superintendent Clark Wicks says one of the most looked at areas of the budget each year is what is happening with taxes. Wicks says much like years prior the taxes are projected to be headed in a good direction.

“This will be the fourth year in a row that we have been able to lower taxes and we are projected at 50 cents per thousand (dollars of property valuation). So, we are going to go from $20.55 to $19.98, roughly. So, a 57 cent reduction in property taxes.”

Wicks says the district wants to continue to do its due diligence with the tax dollars while also continuing to build an efficient school, and also meeting all of the needs of the students which includes various renovation projects such as the middle school, Jim Kaufman Track and elementary playground.
