The 13th Annual Adult Winter Reading Program recently completed at the Jefferson Public Library.

Library Director Jane Millard says 32 participants completed the program, read a total of 547 books and 1,179 theme-related activities were done. This year’s theme was “Silhouettes and Stories,” which focused on biographies and biographical fiction. Millard says the program started with two virtual events, followed by a Maker Day, which was a “make and take” craft where participants handmade and decorated shoes corresponding to the theme and will be on display at the library next month.

There was also a virtual book discussion that was held, with the final party being on March 13th. The party was held in person at the library, with masks and social distancing requirements in place. Millard reviews what the participants were able to accomplish during the program.

“The goal of our Winter Reading Program is to discover new reading interests, become more familiar with the library collection, and especially to provide opportunities for readers to gather together and share their experiences.”

Millard thanks the sponsors of the program and points out that the children and teens reading programs will take place this summer.
