Tentative classifications for the high school track & field postseason are out, and Greene County remains in Class 2A, where it has been recently. There was no track & field season in 2020 due to the pandemic, and guidelines to minimize risk are in place for this season, but all indications are there will be a season.
Greene County has bounced between 2A and 3A over the years, and head boys’ coach Chad Morton told Raccoon Valley Radio some years there is not much difference in performances in the second and third largest of Iowa’s four-class system. “Some years there’s differences in 2A and 3A, and some years there’s not. Some years we would’ve made state in some events in 3A, but we were in 2A. For example, the high jump was really competitive the last couple years in 2A, compared to some others. It just depends. Whether we land in 2A or 3A, we’re going to compete hard and I think we’ll have some opportunities to get some things to State.”

The BEDS document enrollment used for the 2021 track & field classification has Greene County with 259 students. The smallest 3A enrollment this year is an even 300.
