The newest Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine has started to be allocated to Iowa, with a certain number of counties receiving the one-shot dose.

Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf says only Jefferson Hy-Vee Pharmacy received an initial amount of the one-shot vaccine. However, she talks about the newest vaccine being a “game changer.”

“I mean that it’s less labor intensive to give a person one shot and do all of the recording than it is to do it twice. It’s just as effective as the other two, there’s no concern that it is not. The Johnson and Johnson (vaccine) would be perfect, like if we wanted to do a mass clinic. It would be really slick.”

Wolf is hopeful they will receive doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine soon.
