The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

During open forum, the Board discussed a possible 28E Agreement with the Greene County Early Learning Center. Upon the early learning center receiving two grants totaling nearly $470,000, part of the requirement of those grants was a letter of intent from the Board agreeing to give part of their $250,000 financial commitment by May 1st. County Attorney Thomas Laehn was going to communicate with the early learning center to confirm when the Board’s first payment would be and draft a 28E Agreement, which would outline stipulations from the Board when using their funds for the new building project.

The Board then agreed with one change of the Ring Out for Art contest with Tower View Team and Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community. Roger Aegerter requested that the four sculpture finalists would be placed on the south side of the courthouse grounds and left on display from May 1st-November 1st. This is a change from previous years when the sculptures initially were placed on the north side for public voting and then relocated to the south side afterwards. The overall winner would continue to be on the courthouse grounds through the following April.

The Board also approved the extension of the health insurance benefits with COVID-19 to June 30th as presented.

Finally, the Board held a discussion about the county’s COVID-19 mitigation efforts. The Board agreed to allow the current mask mandate to expire on March 31st, along with the COVID-19 leave for county employees and discontinue Zoom meetings for the supervisors on March 31st. Supervisor Chair John Muir said these were discussion items and no formal action took place.
