With the recent announcement from Governor Kim Reynolds, it allows for additional people to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
Guthrie County Public Health Director Jotham Arber says last week, the governor said those 65 and younger with underlying medical conditions are eligible to receive a vaccine.
He says those conditions include cancer, obesity, hypertension, asthmas and immunocompromised conditions, among others. Arber says they are preparing for the next priority group.
“We are coming to the very end of our initial 65 and older population so we’ll just roll right into that next population group, and then hopefully over the next few weeks we’ll be able to get those individuals done and then it will be available for the general population as vaccine is available.”
