Three Greene County senior basketball players have received Academic All-State recognition from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association. The players are Eliza Carlson, Makala Kafer, and Sadie Wilson. To be selected, head coach Todd Gordon told Raccoon Valley Radio students had to be seniors with a minimum 3.85 grade point average on a 4.00 scale.

About the recognition, the coach said, “This is a very prestigious honor! That’s a really high grade point average to maintain, then on top of that you add basketball and all the other things these three are involved in. It’s pretty special and we’re proud of Eliza, Makala, and Sadie, and congratulate them for being named Academic All-State.”

Gordon, who is also the Activities Director for the Greene County School District, took the girls’ basketball head coaching job last summer on a one-year basis. He told Raccoon Valley Radio interviews to find a new head coach for the 2021-22 school year have been completed, and he expects to name the new coach later this week.
