The track & field season starts tomorrow for the Greene County High School girls, and on Tuesday for the boys. Those are the only competitions this week on the sports calendar for the Rams.
Both track & field squads will have several events compete in Cedar Falls inside the UNI-Dome on the U. of Northern Iowa campus at the A.D. Dickinson Relays. This is the only indoor meet for Coach Derek Merk’s girls squad and Coach Chad Morton’s boys. Due to COVID-19 concerns, UNI is not allowing any spectators either day. There is no team score kept at the Dickinson Relays and athletes from schools of all sizes compete as one class.
Greene County head football coach Caden Duncan expects to find out Friday what district the Rams will play in for the 2021 and ’22 seasons. He expects the Rams to remain in Class 2A, where they have been in each of the last three seasons. Duncan’ first two teams have gone a combined 16-5, and a number of starters return from the 2020 squad that went 7-3 and reached the round of 16 in the 2A playoffs.
