The Big Boom Bracket Battle fundraiser for the Perry Chamber of Commerce has kicked off with the nomination period, and the response so far has been good. 

Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says roughly 30 nominations came in during the initial nomination period last week. With this Pasutti says the Chamber is getting ready for the Facebook elimination round this week, to condense the nominations. 

“That includes uploading a photo album on Facebook and having community members like pictures as votes. So, make your nominations, then vote with your likes and then the real fundraising begins after the top eight have been selected.”

Pasutti says the elimination round on Facebook will begin today and will run throughout the rest of the week to determine who will be the Explosive 8.The fundraising portion for the Fourth of July fireworks drive will follow. 

“One vote for liking, two votes for loving the photo, that’s the thumbs and the heart emojis on the photos. And at the end of the week we will tally up those scores and that will determine the top eight, that’ll determine the ranking of those top eight so that we know who to match up.”

Pasutti says the donation period, which includes online and physical donations, will begin to take place the week after the Explosive 8 has been decided.
