A Russell man is in jail after an alleged incident that occurred last Saturday.
According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Brandon Nicolas Carroll, of Russell was arrested and charged with a Class D Felony for first-degree for disarming a peace officer, along with misdemeanors for fourth-degree criminal mischief, assault or use or display of a weapon, and reckless driving and failure to maintain control.
Chief Deputy Adam Infante told Raccoon Valley Radio that a deputy responded to a driving complaint on Interstate-80 at 11:12 a.m. Saturday, February 27th. Infante said Carroll allegedly had a road rage type of incident and rammed into another vehicle.
Infante pointed out that Carroll crashed his vehicle and deputies attempted to take him into custody during which Carroll allegedly fought against being detained and attempted to disarm one of the deputies.
Once apprehended, Carroll was then transported to the MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines where he allegedly continued to struggle with law enforcement. Once he was cleared of injuries at the hospital, Carroll was taken to the Dallas County Jail.
Infante noted that the incident remains under investigation, with possible other charges pending at this time. The driver of the other vehicle Carroll rammed into was uninjured.
Carroll is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring your more information as it becomes official.
