The Stuart Chamber of Commerce discussed reviving some local events at the organization’s monthly meeting Wednesday.
Chamber Director Brenda Dudley said events like Community Coffees, Business After Hours and Lunch and Learns were previously discussed at Monday’s executive meeting. The first Community Coffee event will be held March 19 at 7 a.m. at Karl’s Chevrolet.
Dudley mentioned that she submitted a grant application for $5,500 for the Chamber to purchase the same type of car that notorious bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde were killed in to boost local tourism. The total amount for the car, cement slab for the car to sit on and a small metal statue of Bonnie and Clyde next to the car was estimated at $11,000.
In other business, the Chamber approved its 2021 budget and increasing amounts for beautification and special events throughout the city. Members also heard a presentation from Nate Westre concerning social media marketing.
