The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the maximum property tax levies for fiscal year 2022 at its meeting Thursday morning.

The levy rate for general county services is $6.689 per $1,000 of valuation, while rural services increased to $3.95 per $1,000 of valuation. The general basic levy increased $1 to $4.18 per thousand, while general supplemental stayed the same at $1.88901 per thousand.

Supervisor Chair Mike Dickson said during the public meeting that more work needed to be done on the budget process.

“This would be the maximum that we can, not necessarily what we are going to do, but the maximum that we can [ask for]. The budgeting is not final yet. When we published that [notice], that’s what we were thinking we needed. There have been some things we’ve caught in the budget. I can say with certainty that we are not raising the general services by a dollar.”

In other business, the Board named Matt Pearey to the Courthouse Security Committee and tabled the nomination of individuals to the Magistrate Nomination Commission. The Supervisors also set a public hearing date of March 25th at 10 a.m. for the proposed final budget for fiscal year 2022.
