In support of March being National March Into Literacy Month, Greene County ISU Extension is participating in a special series of programs.
Director Lori Mannel encourages everyone to join them for Read Across Iowa, where a video will be released each week with a special guest reading from a book that families can watch. The first video will be released tomorrow and features Jefferson resident Jacque Andrew reading “Aunt Yang’s Great Soybean Picnic.” Then on the follow Saturdays in March will include videos from Gerry Stein reading “Full of Beans: Henry Ford Grows a Car” on March 13th, Shari Minnihan reading “Carlos in the Cornfield” on March 20th and finally on March 27th will be Curt Muir reading “My Family’s Soybean Farm.” Each video will be on the Greene County Extension and 4-H Facebook pages.
Mannel describes what families can do after they watch each video.
“We encourage you to watch the video, like and share with your children that you’ve done that, and then you will be eligible to win that book.”
The winners will be announced that following Friday. Read Across Iowa is free and open to the public, and no registration is necessary.
