Dallas Center – Grimes girls basketball will be playing in the 4A semifinals tonight from Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, as they take on another team from Central Iowa in the Ballard Bombers. It’s the number 2 and 3 teams in 4A squaring off, with DCG coming in with a 21-2 record and Ballard at 22-1.
The Mustangs were able to overcome a four point halftime deficit on Tuesday afternoon, defeating a pesky Bondurant-Farrar team 43-32. Defense was key for the Mustangs as they gave up only eleven points in the second half, as they made life frustrating for the Bluejays. Ballard played in a low scoring contest against Harlan, winning 38-27.
This is a rematch from a game back in November with Ballard dominating the first matchup 52-23. It was DCGs first game of the season and only loss to a school in 4A all season long, as they will look for revenge against one of the top teams in the state.
In a game that could be a defensive showdown, the team that stays patient offensively and can find the shooters on the other team are going to give themselves the best opportunity to win. Rebounding will also be key, and who can take care of the basketball during key moments of the game is expected to loom large as well.
You can listen to the game tonight on 997 and 1310 KDLS, online at raccoonvalleyradio.com, and the KDLS mobile app. Pregame coverage will begin around 7:40 and tip off will be at 8 o’clock.
