The Perry City Council recently agreed to purchase property from the Interstate Power and Light Company.

Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson says the property in question is an old substation that was abandoned when the electric grid was rebuilt in the city a few years ago. The property was left there as a regular lot.

“Hopefully, we’ll be able to go in and work with some sort of partner to put either a house or a duplex, something like that on this property. Get it on the tax rolls and provide an opportunity for new housing.”

Also, Peterson says there was an additional property the Council purchased which is a lot with a dilapidated structure on it and Peterson hopes they can create something new there. The purchase of the property from Interstate Power and Light Company is for $1 and the other property is for $5,000.
