When Panorama senior Wyatt Appleseth walks out the door after finishing his final year of high school, he’ll stand as the most accomplished wrestler in school history.

Appleseth says it’s a weird feeling.

“It hasn’t quite set in. It’s kind of weird to say that out loud. I mean, I worked really hard, and that’s something I’ll hold with me forever.”

The senior lost two matches in his past two seasons, both to the eventual state champion. This year, it was in the state final, and it was to the one opponent he wanted to face.

“Hayden Taylor is an incredible wrestler who is going to continue to do great things. I have nothing but respect for him, but going into it, I wanted Taylor. I knew he was there. I just fell short when it counted. I thought [160], you know, I was going to be the champion, but it doesn’t always work out that way and it’s how you handle yourself after.”

You can hear more from the Panorama senior during today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
