A historic highway in Greene County recently achieved a new national designation.
The Lincoln Highway Heritage Byway earned the National Scenic Byway designation by the National Scenic Byway Foundation. The foundation supports and recognizes national byways, while empowering, strengthening and sustaining byways.
The Lincoln Highway Heritage Byway is managed by Prairie Rivers of Iowa and encourages people to participate in the new Scenic Byways Passport program. The free digital program allows you to explore the Lincoln Highway. With geofencing technology, you can check-in on the passport and earn entries into a monthly drawing for prizes. Select businesses along the byways are also offering deals and discounts for passport holders, which when redeemed will also enter you into the monthly drawing.
Those participating locations in Greene County include the Lions Club Tree Park in Grand Junction and the Thomas Jefferson Gardens in Jefferson. Signups and check-ins can be done by scanning a QR code and those locations. The program ends December 31st. Click the link below to register.
