U.S. Congresswoman Cindy Axne

Perry Mayor John Andorf attended a roundtable meeting on Wednesday with U.S. Congresswoman Cindy Axne to talk about the coronavirus pandemic and the proposed federal aid package.

Andorf wanted to emphasize multiple things surrounding the pandemic including the availability of the vaccines, and the short supply. Also, Andorf stressed the need for mental health services and helping with unemployment stimulus and stimulus checks for those who may need them.

Finally, an issue Andorf mentioned was surrounding broadband internet access to families. Andorf said that Perry Community Schools may cancel school instead of doing virtual learning because internet availability for some families remains an issue.

Axne wrapped up the event by saying the proposed stimulus package does include funding for issues like mental health and broadband internet access.
