While Iowa lawmakers continue to look into dealing with the pandemic and funding for schools, they are also looking at changes to certain professions.
House Representative for District 19 Carter Nordman says his first bill that he ran in the House that passed unanimously was House File 357 which deals with massage therapy licensing. Nordman says the bill requires a photo ID with the license and adding massage therapists to the list of mandatory reporters.
“We did this bill for the purpose of to hopefully eliminate some bad actors but mostly to help curb human trafficking here in Iowa. I think it was a great bill both republican and democrat support and anything that we can do to help curb that human trafficking we are definitely going to be taking a look at that.”
The bill is now going to the Senate for consideration.
