The Perry School Board approved to continue COVID-19 leave for staff at their most recent meeting.
Perry School Superintendent Clark Wicks says the COVID-19 leave allows for staff to take up to 80 hours of special leave if they are dealing directly with COVID-19 through their own diagnosis or a quarantine.
“We are continuing that because number one we feel it’s the right thing to do with human beings. It’s reasonable, it’s not going to be for ten weeks or whatever the case might be and it helps those people that are in need. We want our staff to be aware that we care about them. We sure want to make sure that they are healthy and hopefully if everybody gets vaccinated that the demand for COVID leave will decrease significantly.”
Wicks notes it will not dip into the other policies that are available to those who would be using it.
