Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers basketball returned to the court on Tuesday night against the Winterset Huskies, and were able to get a thrilling victory over the Huskies winning by the score of 56-54. ADM improves to 8-9 on the season and Winterset falls to 12-7 on the year. The win snaps Winterset’s series winning streak at 4 and an 8 game overall winning streak as well.
Tiger hoops was able to get some big plays in the final minutes, trailing for most of the night, they trailed 52-50 with a couple minutes left before junior Sam Hlas was able to knock down a triple to give them the lead. Senior Tate Stine-Smith was able to give them a bucket to go up three, with the Tigers doing enough to preserve the lead down the stretch. The Huskies had a pair of opportunities to tie or win the game in the final seconds, but a three from Levi Gurwell was no good to give the Tigers the victory.
ADM trailed at halftime 30-18 after shots were not falling during the first half, and trailed early in the third quarter by 15, but were able to claw their way back into the game to cut the lead to four going into the fourth.
The Tigers got great play all around all night long, and were led by sophomore Vince Benetti’s 15 points, as the Tigers got great minutes from all of their players on the night.
ADM will take their two game winning streak to a state ranked team in Carroll Friday, looking for more recent succcess.
