Dallas Center – Grimes boys and girls basketball knew that they were in for tough matchups on Friday night against Indianola, as the girls beat the #15 team in girls 5A 38-35 while the boys were upset in overtime 76-72 in a wild back and forth game.

4As #3 girls were able to hang tough, putting together one of their strongest performances of the season. Defense was key as they held an Indianola team that came in averaging 55 points per game 20 points below their season average. They were able to avenge a 50-45 loss to the same team back in December, and have now won seven straight games as well.

The number #4 team in 3A, DCG had a good night offensively, but struggled on the defensive end as Indianola was able to find their key scorers down the stretch to pull off the win. The game was tied 65-65 after regulation, but early buckets for Indianola along with enough free throws down the stretch were enough for the win. Junior Bo Huston was able to play a great game with 26 points on the night which included six threes, and senior Luke Rankin had 17 points and six assists.

Both teams  will be returning to the court next week when they take on Pella Christian on the road.
