A non-profit organization in Greene County recently donated items to area youth.
RSVP 55+ Volunteer Program collected 1,761 pairs of socks, underwear and diapers during its 12th Annual Lots of Socks and More fundraiser in October. The items were given to New Opportunities of Greene County to distribute to area youth that signed up for a Christmas bag. Any leftover items were given to the Greene County School District to distribute throughout the year.
Additionally, the senior volunteer organization raised $590, which was used to purchase diapers and pull-ups for newborns and infants. Those items were donated to the Greene County Early Learning Center, the Early Learning Center in Churdan and Natural Wonders Learning Center in Jefferson.
In addition to the Lots of Socks fundraiser, RSVP 55+ Volunteer Program assists elderly individuals with their Grocery Assistance Program (GAP), as well as In-Home Visitation and Phone Friend programs.
