With states around the country legalizing marijuana, the 89th Iowa General Assembly will include talks about the same topic. 

State Senator for District 10 Jake Chapman says the issue of legalizing marijuana has come up frequently over the last few years. He points out that the argument is about taxing the sale of marijuana to bring more revenue into the state. 

“At this time I do not support that piece of legislation. We will see where it goes. Typically, it’s been filed every year and has never even made it out of sub-committee or committee process. Not to say that that’s not going to receive a full hearing but I think it’s probably doubtful.”

There are plenty of bills and topics making their way through the Iowa Capitol as the legislative session continues.
