Dallas Center – Grimes wrestling competed on Saturday in the Ed Winger classic in Urbandale, and had a pair of wrestlers put up third place finishes in the tournament, with Luke Stover getting that award at 106 and Jacob Fistler able to accomplish that mark at 126.

Stover lost his first match after getting a first round bye, but was able to make his way back up through the consolation portion of the bracket to secure the 3rd place finish. He defeated Jake Alexander of ADM 4-0 to pick up the position.

Fistler was able to win his first two matches before losing 1-0 in a semifinal matchup, but was able to take third in an 8-2 decision over Teber Dominguez of Lewis Central, concluding a nice day for him and continues to show why he’s one of the best in his weight class in 3A.

Other solid performances for the Mustangs includes Drew Clausen at the 195 pound mark able to record a 4th place finish during the tournament, showing good performances throughout the event.

They will be hosting an event on Thursday against Ames, Nevada and Des Moines Valley.
