For Dallas, Adair, Guthrie and Greene County farmers, the deadline to apply for the cover crop insurance discount has been extended. 

The deadline to apply for the $5 per acre discount on 2021 cover crop insurance premiums has been extended to January 27th. The program applies to farmers and landowners in Iowa, and is administered by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Risk Management Agency.

Fall 2020 cover crop acres enrolled in other state or federal cover crop cost-share programs are not eligible but farmers who received prevent plant payments in 2020 can still apply. The premium reductions will be available for fall cover crops with a spring cash crop.
