West Central Valley Wildcats basketball split a home doubleheader Tuesday night with Woodward-Granger.

The girls opened it up with a wire-to-wire victory 47-29 over the visiting Hawks. Junior Madelyn Jaeger paced the ladies with 25 points on the night, 18 of which came in the first half. Cathy Marlow added 11 points for the Wildcats, Isabella Munoz scored 10 and senior Presley Pivonka chipped in a pair of fourth-quarter free throws. The girls improved to 6-8 on the season and evened up their record in the West Central Conference at 5-5.

In the boys’ matchup, the Wildcats pulled within three at the end of the first quarter before the Hawks went on a 27-0 run to end the half. West Central Valley lost the contest 76-35. The Wildcats’ leading scorer was Landon Osberg with 8 points on the night. Jackson Doyle, Grant Caltrider and Nate Gerling scored 6 apiece. Hunter Keller put up 5, Carson Powell scored 3 and Hunter Stiles connected on a free-throw in the losing effort.

The Wildcats will host a doubleheader with Saydel Thursday.
