Whenever there is potential severe weather or other disasters in Dallas County it’s important to have information available.

One thing Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator A.J. Seely says people aren’t always aware of the threats or hazards that may be present in the community but there are ways to stay in tune with what is going on weather-wise.

“We would really encourage folks to sign up for that Alert Iowa notification system. So you can get a text message or a phone call with an event that’s happening so whether it be a tornado warning or a winter storm warning you will know about that regardless of what type of event it is.”

Also, Seely notes the Dallas County EMA Facebook page regularly posts updates and preparedness tips. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network Severe Weather Action Team also provides live coverage whenever there is severe weather in Dallas, Greene and Guthrie counties. Live coverage continues until severe weather moves out of the area or drops below severe levels. You can sign up for the Alert Iowa notification system here.
