Following the January 6th riots in Washington, D.C. during the Electoral College Certification process, some worried that unrest would spill into Iowa .
Iowa House District 20 Representative Ray Sorensen says he’s pleased that Iowans didn’t take that route.
“Violence is not going to solve anything, at Congress, at the state level, at the local level. We need to be able to have civil discourse, and we need to be able to check our anger. If you are angry, at least channel that anger, be able to use it to start the conversation, understand the civics of the situation.”
Sorensen says the founding fathers didn’t create a government to move at a jaguar’s pace. He says it’s meant to have checks and balances, and that process makes it move slower than people would like.
